
Mr. Joe Mwangi is a Principal Scientist at Kenya’s Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, specializing in nuclear fuel management for Light Water Reactors, Material Flow Analysis for the Nuclear Fuel Cycle, and Radioactive Waste Management.
With over a decade of experience, Joe has been instrumental in policy formulation for Nuclear Fuel Cycle & Radioactive Waste Management, ensuring adherence to international standards. Joe has also played a crucial role in advancing Kenya’s nuclear power program through pre-feasibility studies, site analyses, and economic assessments for nuclear power plants and research reactors. His expertise extends to evaluating reactor technologies and developing comprehensive human resource plans for the nuclear sector.
Joe holds a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering from KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. He has earned several certifications from esteemed institutions such as Texas A&M University and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
As a member of the East Africa Association for Radiation Protection and the Kenya Chemical Society, Joe is committed to promoting nuclear science and technology in Kenya.
Proficient in programming, Joe excels in Java, C, and GPU computing, with various projects on ray tracing and high-speed computing.
