Hilda Mpakany

Ms. Hilda Mpakany holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering from KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS) in South Korea.

Hilda has worked with the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) since 2011, contributing to the Nuclear Energy Infrastructure Development and Energy Research, Innovation, and Development Directorates in various roles. Her work has involved conducting technical studies for Kenya’s Nuclear Power and Research Reactor Programmes.

Currently, Ms. Mpakany serves as the Principal Officer and Head of the Energy Research & Development Directorate. In this capacity, she is responsible for developing and implementing frameworks to coordinate energy research, human and institutional capacity development, and knowledge management within the energy and petroleum sector. Additionally, she leads the Kenya Nuclear Research Reactor (KNRR) project.

•Ms. Mpakany is also the Vice President of Women in Nuclear Kenya (WiN-Kenya) and is an active member of the Eastern Africa Association for Radiation Protection (EAARP), the Nuclear Society of Kenya (NSK), and the Kenya Chemical Society (KCS).
