
Dr. Nadir Hashim is a senior lecturer and former chairman, Department of Physics at Kenyatta University. He earned his Dr. rer. nat. degree in June 2007 at Siegen University, Germany. The doctoral thesis work involved measurement and Monte Carlo simulation cosmic ray muons using the ALEPH at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)
Dr. Hashim’s studies were funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Max Planck Society in Germany. The data analysis was carried out at Siegen University, in Siegen and the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg, Germany.
Dr. Hashim is currently the academic leader of the nuclear science and technology training program at Kenyatta University. Dr. Hashim has supervised over 30 postgraduate students and collaborates with international scientists in the fields of radiation physics, astronomy and astrophysics. He is a member of the following societies: Kenya Physical Society, East African Association of Radiation Protection and the Nuclear Society of Kenya (NSK).
At the national level, Dr. Hashim serves in various technical committees at the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI). He is the national coordinator of the AFRA-NEST (African Network for Education in Nuclear Science and Technology) of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). He serves as an interim coordinator of AFRA-NEST at the regional level and coordinates the IAEA-Internet Reactor Laboratory (IRL) in Kenya.
